Do you know who Chow Yun-fat(周润发) is? He’s a very famous movie star who was born in 1955 in Hong Kong.

Some people say that when men reach their middle age, they get out of shape and show a big beer belly.

But older Chow Yun-fat still looks very handsome.

When Chou Yun-fat was young, he looked like a big boy who was not familiar with the world.

As he grew older, his eyes look deep and his face matured a lot.

If you want to run into Chow Yun-fat, go to the subway, bus, vegetable market, mountain roads, small restaurants and parks in Hong Kong.

A T-shirt, jeans, HK$15 sandals, and a sack full of vegetables are all part of Mr. Zhou's daily routine.

He was still using an old Nokia phone until it broke, and then changed to use his wife's old smartphone. He doesn't play any games or uses any apps. He only uses it to contact people by calling them and sending them text messages, just like to good old days.

He said, "We don't really need much information. We should learn to listen to our hearts."

But who would have thought that the average man on the street was worth $5.6 billion?

They don‘t have children and decided to donate all their wealth, and set up a charity fund for it.

Love for 31 years, he would still accompany his wife every day to the market to buy vegetables and cook at home.

In his eyes, "my relationship with my wife is always fresh."

His wife likes to eat crab, so he’ll go to the seafood market early in the morning to choose crab, then bring them home to steam them.

His wife loves flowers, so he often buys a bunch of flowers to go home with, and sometimes hides like a child, trying to surprise her.

Over the years, he's been very loyal to her. Zero gossips, no media hype.

And his wife, in the pursuit of his career, has accompanied him as an agent, a translator, and even as an assistant. She took care of everything.

"I love acting so much. My wife has sacrificed a lot because of my career, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.”

But why have they not had any children in their 30 years of marriage?

It wasn't until years later, in an interview, that we learned the truth: his wife was pregnant before. It was going to be a girl.

Chow Yun-fat, a new father, was so excited that he couldn't wait to get a crib, decorate a baby room, buy girl's clothes and toys, and waited delightedly for the day she would be born.

But his wife suffered. The fetus, more than 7 months old, died due to cord strangulation.

It took her 7 years to mentally recover from the pain of losing her unborn child.

It was because of this accident that they decided not to have any children again. He didn't want his wife to have to bear such sadness.

On his 60th birthday in 2015, only the two of them celebrated in a small restaurant with cake and happiness to be together.

Over the years, Chow Yun-fat fell in love with hiking and can spend a few days climbing Hong Kong's mountains every week. Six hours at a time and half a year down, he lost 13 kg.

Chow Yun-fat answered: 

"My motto in life is happiness and health, but happiness must be based on health. To enjoy a good life is to have a good body. The biggest mistake in life is to trade health for something else.”
